Ho Chi Minh City accelerates investment in 3 key intersections connecting to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway to strengthen regional linkages and reduce traffic pressure at the southern gateway.

On May 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced that it is accelerating the construction of 3 intersections connecting to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, including the Rung Sac intersection, National Highway 50 intersection and Nguyen Van Tao intersection, with a total investment of trillions of VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.

The intersection between Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway and Rung Sac road in Binh Khanh commune (formerly Can Gio district) has a total investment of nearly 3,000 billion VND.

According to the design, the project will build connecting branches from Rung Sac road to the expressway at a design speed of 40 km/h. The area under the intersection is arranged as a roundabout with a radius of about 50 m.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway will be built with an additional unit on the right side to complete the scale of 8 lanes according to the plan, ensuring a design speed of 100 km/h.

Rung Sac road will be built with two underpasses for two directions of traffic, prioritizing traffic from Rung Sac road to Can Gio bridge and vice versa. Each tunnel is about 610 m long, of which the closed tunnel section is 150 m long, and the road surface width in the tunnel is about 10 m.

The project is expected to start construction in 2026 and be completed in 2028.

The intersection between National Highway 50 and Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway has a total investment of nearly 600 billion VND. The project is designed in the form of a trumpet with branches connecting the two roads, with a total length of about 1.3 km.

According to the plan, the project will start construction this year and be completed in 2027.

In addition to the two intersections mentioned above, Ho Chi Minh City will also build a third intersection connecting the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway in the Nguyen Van Tao street area.

This intersection along with Nguyen Van Linh intersection has a total investment of about 2,441 billion VND from the city budget, belonging to the project to upgrade the North-South road axis (Nguyen Huu Tho road) with a total investment of nearly 10,000 billion VND.

According to the plan, the project will be started in 2026 and completed synchronously with the entire North-South trunk road project in 2028.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, early completion of these intersections is an urgent requirement in the context of a series of inter-regional traffic projects being implemented synchronously.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway is expected to be completed and put into operation on the entire route in September 2026. Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway is operating phase 1 with a scale of 4 lanes and is being expanded to 8 lanes according to the plan, expected to be completed in 2028.

Along with that, the National Highway 50 expansion project has basically been completed, and the Rung Sac road is also being studied for expansion to 10 lanes.

According to the assessment of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, accelerating the investment progress of intersections will contribute to completing the connection network between Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh and provinces in the region, increasing the exploitation capacity of the inter-regional transport system and promoting socio-economic development in the Southern region.
