Ho Chi Minh City spends 3,563 billion VND to open a 40m wide, 6-lane road at the Northwest gateway

Ho Chi Minh City - The Thoi An - Thanh Xuan inter-ward road project is nearly 4.5 km long, 40 m wide with 6 lanes, with a total capital of more than 3,563 billion VND, expected to reduce the load on the Northwest gateway.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the adjustment of the Thoi An - Thanh Xuan inter-ward road construction project (route 2).

The project is invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, implemented in Thoi An and Thanh Xuan wards.

This is a newly opened road connecting from Le Van Khuong street to Ha Huy Giap street, nearly 4.5 km long, designed to be 40 m wide with 6 lanes for traffic.

The project also builds a branch connecting Le Thi Rieng street, about 200 m long, with 4 lanes, 30 m wide. At the same time, Da Han bridge, about 56 m long, will be newly built.

The entire route is synchronously invested with rainwater drainage, domestic water drainage, lighting, green trees, technical culverts, infrastructure undergrounding, signal systems and traffic surveillance cameras.

After adjustment, the total investment of the project is about 3,563 billion VND, using city budget funds. Project implementation progress until 2028.

To implement it, Ho Chi Minh City will recover land from 299 households, of which 222 households are fully affected (white clearance) and 77 households are partially affected.

When completed, the inter-ward road Thoi An - Thanh Xuan is expected to contribute to promoting urbanization, reasonable population redistribution, and creating motivation for socio-economic development in the Northwest area of the city.

The project will also share traffic volume with existing routes, reduce pressure on National Highway 1 (section from Binh Phuoc intersection to Ga intersection), strengthen infrastructure connection and complete the regional transportation network.

Previously, the Thoi An - Thanh Xuan inter-ward road project was approved for investment policy by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council from 2016 with a road surface scale of 30 m, total capital of more than 1,152 billion VND.

The project includes two components: Road construction (about 1,000 billion VND from the city budget) and compensation and site clearance (nearly 152 billion VND). However, for many years, the project has not been able to be implemented due to problems in compensation and site clearance.

Also in the Northwest region, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the adjustment of the investment policy for the project to expand and upgrade Huong Lo 80B road.

According to the adjustment decision, the total investment of the project increased from VND 764 billion to VND 1,104 billion.

Huong Lo 80B is the main traffic axis connecting Nguyen Anh Thu street with Le Van Khuong, playing an important role in connecting Tan Thoi Hiep ward with Dong Thanh commune, and creating a fast connection direction to the Northwest of Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, the road is only about 7-8 m wide. According to the adjustment plan, Huong Lo 80B will be expanded to 30 m.

It is expected that the project will start construction in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.
