Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the adjustment of the investment policy for the project to expand and upgrade Huong Lo 80B road.
The total investment was adjusted from VND 764 billion to VND 1.104 billion.
At the same time, the investor's name was also adjusted from "Urban Traffic Management Zone No. 3" to "Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board".
The project implementation location has been updated from "District 12, Hoc Mon district" to "Tan Thoi Hiep ward, Dong Thanh commune", suitable for the current administrative unit.
Regarding the implementation time, the project is extended from the 2019 - 2021 period to the 2019 - 2027 period.
According to the plan, in the first quarter of 2026, the approval of investment policy adjustments and related procedures will be completed. From the first quarter to the second quarter of 2026, the project will complete compensation and site handover.
The project is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed and put into use in the third to fourth quarters of 2027.

Huong Lo 80B is the main road connecting Nguyen Anh Thu street to Le Van Khuong street, playing an important role in connecting Tan Thoi Hiep ward with Dong Thanh commune, and also quickly connecting to the Northwest area of Ho Chi Minh City.
However, for many years, this road has only been about 7-8 m wide, the road surface is narrow, lacking a synchronous drainage system, so congestion and flooding often occur, greatly affecting people's travel.
According to the adjustment plan, the road will be expanded to 30 m, and a synchronous drainage system will be built to solve the flooding situation. To implement the project, the city will recover about 8.2 hectares of land in Tan Thoi Hiep ward and Dong Thanh commune.
Previously, the project had been approved for investment policy by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council since 2016, but could not be implemented due to problems in site clearance and capital balance.
The restart and capital increase for the Huong Lo 80B project is expected to create a clear shift for the transport infrastructure of the Northwest gateway area, contributing to reducing pressure on neighboring roads such as Nguyen Anh Thu, Le Van Khuong and promoting local socio-economic development in the coming years.
