Ho Chi Minh City - Park No. 1 Ly Thai To is expected to officially inaugurate phase 1 on the evening of February 12, 2026, after more than three months of urgent construction.

On February 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, reporting on the plan to organize the inauguration ceremony of phase 1 of Park No. 1 Ly Thai To, Vuon Lai ward.

According to a report by Vung Tau Urban Investment and Development Co., Ltd., the project has basically completed the main items so far.

It is expected that before February 8, 2026, the entire remaining work will be completed and organized for acceptance, putting the park into use before February 10, 2026.

Based on the implementation progress, the Department of Construction proposes to organize the Inauguration Ceremony of Park No. 1 Ly Thai To from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM on February 12, 2026 at the park grounds.

The event is expected to have about 300 guests, including government leaders, Ho Chi Minh City leaders, representatives of departments and agencies, along with press and television agencies.

Land plot No. 1 Ly Thai To has a prime location, located between three fronts of Ly Thai To - Hung Vuong - Tran Binh Trong streets, opposite Cong Hoa roundabout (Vuon Lai ward, old District 10), with a total area of about 4.3 ha.

Inside the land area, there are 7 ancient villas that once belonged to the family of Uncle Hoa - the "land and house king" of old Saigon. After 1975, the land was taken over by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but left abandoned for many years.

In October 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang oriented this land to be renovated into a multi-purpose park, both serving community activities, organizing cultural and artistic activities, and being a place to place a monument to commemorate the people of Ho Chi Minh City who died in the COVID-19 pandemic.

In early November 2025, after being handed over the site by Ho Chi Minh City, the sponsor unit deployed cleaning and renovating the space to build a park and memorial.

By February 2, 2026, the water drop icon has been installed at the center of the main square's lake.

The symbol is about 6 m high, 13 m in circumference, made from mirror stainless steel alloy. The hollow structure inside is calculated so that when natural light shines through, viewers can see a heart appearing in the heart of a drop of water - a symbol of sharing, loss and revival.

The main entrance to the park is located at the corner of Ly Thai To - Hung Vuong intersection, adjacent to the roundabout. From here, people step into the welcome square of thousands of square meters, crossing green walkways to access the water drop fountain square with an area of about 1,800 square meters.

The central square is designed as a fountain, with a water droplet symbol placed in the center. The lake is arranged in a terrace shape, creating space for people to sit and rest, and admire the scenery. The system of thousands of lights helps the iconic area become prominent and shimmering at night.

Following are green spaces, grass hills, lawns, and observation huts. Four old villas in the park grounds are preserved and renovated into restaurants, community houses, public libraries, exhibition - museum spaces and public toilets, serving the needs of people and tourists.
