On the morning of January 5, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) started the project to build and install elevator systems at pedestrian overpasses at elevated stations of Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).
The project has a scale of 8 elevators, each elevator with a load capacity of 1,000 kg, arranged at 7 pedestrian overpasses along Metro Line 1.
At Tan Cang station (Thanh My Tay ward), an elevator is installed on the left side of the railway line, on the sidewalk of Nguyen Huu Canh street.
An Phu station (Binh Trung ward) is arranged with 2 elevators, including 1 elevator at the median strip of Vo Nguyen Giap street (old Hanoi Highway) and 1 elevator on the sidewalk of the parallel road.

Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai stations, and the High-Tech Park each install 1 elevator on the sidewalk of the Vo Nguyen Giap parallel road.

The National University station alone is equipped with 1 elevator at the parallel road median strip.

In parallel with the installation of elevators, the project also synchronously deploys many auxiliary items such as access walkways with roofs, slopes for the disabled, surveillance camera systems and smart loudspeakers.
These items aim to form a safe, friendly and civilized travel space in the area of elevated stations.
The total investment capital of the project is about 53.4 billion VND, from the Ho Chi Minh City budget. The expected construction time is about 6 months.
According to MAUR, investing in installing elevators at pedestrian overpasses not only helps complete the technical infrastructure of Metro Line 1, but also clearly demonstrates Ho Chi Minh City's commitment to creating the most favorable conditions for passengers to access public transport.
The project aims to remove access barriers, ensure safe, convenient and equal travel conditions for all subjects, especially the elderly, children, people with disabilities and pregnant women.
Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway line of Ho Chi Minh City, nearly 20 km long, connecting the central area with the eastern gateway of the city.
After officially being put into operation from December 2024, the metro line quickly attracted a large number of people to use, with an average traffic volume of more than 60,000 passengers per day.
To date, Metro Line 1 has served more than 20 million passengers, making an important contribution to reducing road traffic pressure and gradually forming the habit of using public transport in Ho Chi Minh City.
