HCMC takes action to ensure supply and demand and stabilize prices
In recent days, at traditional markets in Ho Chi Minh City, prices of fresh vegetables and foods - especially green vegetables - have increased sharply due to a sharp decrease in supply from Lam Dong and Dak Lak due to floods and cut off roads. In response to this development, large enterprises and Ho Chi Minh City authorities have affirmed that they will ensure supply and demand and stabilize prices for the market.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Nguyen Phuong said that in addition to the impact of floods, vegetable prices have also increased due to some cases of "patching water in the rain". He requested distribution systems to forecast demand early, develop reasonable reserve plans and absolutely not allow supply disruptions or unreasonable price increases. Supermarkets and retail chains are required to find alternative sources of goods from localities less affected by storms; at the same time, closely coordinate with suppliers to ensure agricultural products for Tet.
