Ho Chi Minh City sets deadline for 4 BOT projects to expand gateways to 10-12 lanes

Ho Chi Minh City - 4 BOT projects to expand National Highway 1, 13, 22 and the North-South axis to 10 - 12 lanes must complete the feasibility study report in March 2026.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Cong Vinh has just directed to accelerate the progress of BOT projects to expand gateways according to Resolution 98 (now Resolution 260) of the National Assembly.

National Highway 1

Component project 3 to upgrade and expand National Highway 1 (section from Kinh Duong Vuong street to the border of Tay Ninh province) has a total capital of more than 6,600 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to complete the procedures for preparing, appraising and submitting for approval the feasibility study report of component project 3 before March 6, 2026, without delay.

The nearly 10 km long section of National Highway 1 will be expanded to 60 m, meeting 10 - 12 lanes, replacing the existing 4 - 6 lanes.

In addition to expanding the road, the project will invest in Binh Thuan intersection, Kinh Duong Vuong intersection and build an additional Binh Dien bridge.

The project is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed by the end of 2028.

National Highway 22

For component project 3 of construction, renovation, and upgrading of National Highway 22 (section from An Suong intersection to Ring Road 3), the total investment is more than 4,190 billion VND.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests the Department of Construction to complete the preparation, appraisal and submission for approval of the feasibility study report before March 6, 2026, without delay.

National Highway 22, more than 8 km long, will be expanded to 60 m, with a scale of 10 lanes. In which, 4 middle lanes for vehicles to run at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, 6 lanes on both sides operating at a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

On the route, 7 overpasses will be built at major intersections such as Nguyen Anh Thu; Nguyen Thi Soc - Nha Vuong; Le Thi Ha; Tran Van Muoi - Ba Trieu; Ly Thuong Kiet - Nguyen Van Bua; Nguyen Thi Nuoi; Duong Cong Khi - Le Loi to reduce congestion and increase traffic capacity.

The project is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed in 2028.

National Highway 13

Component project 2 to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 (section from Binh Trieu bridge to Vinh Binh bridge) has a total investment of more than 6,281 billion VND.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to complete appraisal and submit for approval the feasibility study report before March 6, 2026, without delay.

The section of National Highway 13, about 5.9 km long, will be expanded to 60 m, with a scale of 10 lanes.

A noteworthy point is that the route will be built with an elevated road (overpass) 3.2 km long from Binh Trieu intersection to Binh Phuoc intersection, with a scale of 4 lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h.

On both sides below, parallel roads are arranged with 3 lanes on each side, with a maximum speed of 60 km/h. The project also builds two two-way underpasses at Binh Loi intersection and Binh Phuoc intersection.

The project is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed in 2028.

North - South trunk road (Nguyen Huu Tho)

Component project 2 to upgrade and expand the North-South main road (Nguyen Huu Tho road) has a total investment of 6,106 billion VND.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests to complete appraisal and submit for approval the feasibility study report before March 15, 2026.

The section from Nguyen Van Linh street to Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, more than 8 km long, will be expanded to 60 m, combined with the construction of an elevated route about 6.62 km in the middle.

The elevated route has a cross-section of 18.5 m, arranged with 4 car lanes (2 lanes in each direction), a design speed of 80 km/h, completely separated from the parallel road system below.

Underground, two parallel routes will be built, with 3 lanes on each side, with a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

The project is expected to start in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed in 2028.
