Thu Thiem - Long Thanh route started construction in June
The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line was previously planned as a light railway, now it has been converted into an urban railway and assigned to Ho Chi Minh City as the competent authority to implement it.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is considering assigning Thaco to study investing in the route in the form of PPP (BT contract), with the goal of starting construction before June 30, 2026 and completing it in 2030.
The route is about 42 km long, designed with double tracks, track gauge 1.435 mm, design speed 120 km/h. The entire route is expected to have 20 stations, including 16 elevated stations and 4 underground stations, with a preliminary total investment of about 84,753 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Council has issued a resolution to add this route to the annex list of Resolution 188 of the National Assembly, creating a legal basis to accelerate the investment preparation process.
At the meeting of the Steering Committee for key national projects in the railway sector on the morning of March 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province to coordinate in deploying the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh line according to an emergency order.
Currently, Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section) nearly 11.27 km long, with a total investment of more than 55,000 billion VND, has been started on January 15, 2026 and is expected to be completed in 2030.
According to the plan, the Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem Metro line and the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh line will also be completed in the same period.
At that time, a urban railway corridor will be formed, directly connecting Tan Son Nhat airport - Ho Chi Minh City center - Long Thanh airport, contributing to improving passenger transport capacity and reducing road traffic pressure.
Ring Road 4 in Ho Chi Minh City started construction in September
In parallel with railway lines, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project is also being promoted for early implementation.
The entire Ring Road 4 is about 207 km long, passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh. In which, the 47 km section through Binh Duong (before the merger) was started in June 2025.
The remaining sections are about 160 km long, with a total investment of more than 1,204 billion VND. After merging with Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong, the length of the route passing through Ho Chi Minh City increased from about 17 km to nearly 83 km, becoming the locality with the largest length on the entire route.
In phase 1, the project is invested on a scale of 4 expressway lanes, with a design speed of 100 km/h. Site clearance will be carried out on a scale of 8 lanes to create a reserve land fund for future expansion.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has requested units to complete all investment preparation procedures to promptly start the project on May 19, 2026.
According to the plan, the entire Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City will be completed and put into operation in 2028.
When completed, the route will not only strengthen the connection between the Southeast provinces with the Southwest and Central Highlands, but also open an important connection route between Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh airport, in addition to other traffic axes such as Ring Road 3 and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
