On March 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the State Steering Committee for Important National Projects, Key Sectors of Transport (Steering Committee) chaired the 24th meeting of the Steering Committee.
The meeting was held directly at the Government headquarters, online with 27 provinces and cities having important national projects and key transport sector projects in the area.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister said that in the atmosphere of people across the country celebrating the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, on many key construction sites, hundreds of officials, engineers, workers, and laborers are still diligently clinging to the construction site, some people have been "celebrating Tet on the construction site" for 2-3 consecutive years, organizing construction throughout Tet.
All have been implemented in accordance with the spirit of "working throughout Tet and holidays", organizing "3 shifts, 4 teams" construction, determined and making the highest efforts to accelerate progress and soon put projects into operation to serve the people.
Right in the first days of 2026, the Prime Minister directly inspected many construction sites to encourage officials, workers, and laborers; urged and directed ministries and sectors to accelerate the progress of project implementation.
Our country has completed 3,345km of expressways, exceeding the set target of 3,000km; basically completed and technically opened to traffic the entire North-South expressway from Cao Bang to Ca Mau.

The Prime Minister requested to continue to complete the remaining items of the projects to put bridges, train stations, ports, and roads into synchronous operation; continue to supplement and complete auxiliary works; complete the planning of the expressway system, associated with socio-economic development plans.
According to the Prime Minister, the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress continues to identify 3 strategic breakthroughs in infrastructure, institutions, and human resources development, in which the goal is to have 5,000km of expressways nationwide by 2030.
Currently, the whole country has completed and started construction of about 4,000km of expressways; in the near future, it will continue to invest in horizontal expressways, road and railway traffic routes connecting with Long Thanh airport.
The Prime Minister requested that along with completing and promoting the implementation of projects that have been started; investing in connecting traffic routes; expanding and upgrading to meet standards for route sections that do not meet standards; payment, settlement, inspection, examination, and fight against negativity, corruption, and group interests.
At the same time, review and arrange capital immediately for ongoing projects; urgently allocate medium-term investment capital and submit it to the National Assembly in the next session.
The Prime Minister requested that at the meeting, delegates discuss and clearly point out the existing problems, obstacles, difficulties, and responsibilities of each related entity; the situation and progress of project implementation in the list of projects under the Steering Committee.
The Prime Minister requested localities to report on the results of site clearance and material supply, especially projects planned to be completed in the first half of 2026; assess the completion ability of projects that have been technically opened to traffic such as Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang, Huu Nghi - Chi Lang, Dong Dang - Tra Linh, Cao Lanh - An Huu, Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot, Ring Road 3 HCMC, Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang.
At the same time, review the work of reviewing and supplementing intersections and connection points with newly invested expressways if necessary to maximize project investment efficiency.
