The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for appraisal the Feasibility Study Report of component project 3: Renovation and upgrade of National Highway 22 (section from An Suong intersection to Ring Road 3) according to the public-private partnership method (BOT contract).
The project passes through Trung My Tay ward (formerly District 12) and Ba Diem, Hoc Mon, Xuan Thoi Son communes (formerly Hoc Mon district) with a length of more than 8km, a cross-section of 60m.
In which, 4 central lanes are designed with a speed of 80km/h, and 6 lanes on both sides have a speed of 60km/h.

Along with expanding the road surface, the project builds 7 overpasses on National Highway 22, crossing level crossings to separate traffic flow, ensuring 4 high-speed lanes to circulate continuously, without intersections.
The intersection with Nguyen Anh Thu street will build a bridge 359 m long, 18.5 m wide, with 4 lanes.
Ly Thuong Kiet - Nguyen Van Bua intersection builds a bridge 359m long, 18.5m wide, 4 lanes.
Nguyen Thi Soc - Nha Vuong intersection builds a bridge 359 m long, 18.5m wide, 4 lanes.
The Northwest Arc - Le Thi Ha intersection will build a bridge about 800 m long, 18.5m wide, with 4 lanes.
Tran Van Muoi - Ba Trieu intersection builds a bridge 359m long, 18.5m wide, 4 lanes.
Nguyen Thi Nuoi intersection builds a bridge 359m long, 18.5m wide, 4 lanes.
Duong Cong Khi - Le Loi intersection builds a bridge about 434.4m long, 18.5m wide, 4 lanes.

The total investment capital of component project 3 is nearly 4,200 billion VND. It is expected that after the feasibility study report is approved, the project will select investors and start construction from the second quarter of 2026; complete and put into operation in 2028.
The BOT contract period is about 19 years and 6 months, calculated from the time of operation.
The project applies non-stop electronic toll collection, without barriers. The expected toll for 4 lanes with a speed of 80km/h is from 2,100 - 12,000 VND/km; 4 lanes with a speed of 60km/h are from 1,470 - 8,400 VND/km. Mixed lanes on both sides are free of charge, and vehicles identification devices are arranged to limit the situation of avoiding the station.

In parallel with the BOT project to expand National Highway 22, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing two component projects with state budget capital.
Component project 1: Compensation, support for resettlement and relocation of technical infrastructure in Ba Diem, Hoc Mon, Xuan Thoi Son communes with a total capital of 6, 227 billion VND, expected site clearance of about 16.6ha, affecting 1,362 households, of which 392 households are completely cleared.
Component project 2: Relocating technical infrastructure in Trung My Tay ward, about 7 billion VND.

National Highway 22 is a vital traffic route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Moc Bai international border gate (Tay Ninh), playing an important role in trade with ASEAN countries.
However, currently the road is only 36 - 40m wide, and congestion often occurs.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the expansion of National Highway 22 will be synchronized with major projects such as Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 and Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway, contributing to completing the inter-regional transport network, strengthening connectivity between the Northwest region and the city center and Southeast provinces.
