On October 1, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and related departments had a working session with the Industrial Investment and Development Corporation - JSC (Becamex IDC).
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc ordered Becamex Corporation to study the project to build a railway connecting Bau Bang (formerly Binh Duong) to Cai Mep (formerly Ba Ria Vung Tau), the Ho Chi Minh City railway project connecting Can Tho.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC also informed the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee about studying and proposing the Bau Bang - Cai Mep and Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho high-speed railway lines.
Of which, the Bau Bang - Cai Mep route is 127km long, with a total investment of nearly VND153,000 billion, a speed of 160km/h for passenger ships and 120km/h for cargo ships. This route is expected to directly connect the former industrial parks of Binh Duong and Dong Nai with the Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port cluster.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho route is about 174km long, with a total investment of more than VND173,600 billion in phase 1, designed with a speed of 200km/h for passenger ships and 160km/h for cargo ships. The route will become an important bridge to bring goods and agricultural products from the Mekong Delta to industrial centers and international seaports.
These routes are designed to interconnect with each other, forming a modern railway transport network, connecting seaports, industrial parks and large urban areas.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, to make projects such as railways a reality soon, there needs to be a clear mechanism, for example, the State clears land, while businesses implement construction and operation...
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee highly appreciated the proposals for major railway projects, solving the national and Ho Chi Minh City transportation systems after the merger.
According to the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the city is in the spirit of agreeing to let Becamex study railway lines. In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Mep railway line, passing through Dong Nai province, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will organize a working session with Dong Nai to agree on the most favorable smooth investment plan.
