According to Lao Dong Newspaper, D1 route from Duyen Hai town to Duyen Hai district (Tra Vinh province) has many potholes, causing difficulties in traffic and potential risks to traffic safety, especially at night or in the rainy season.
Mr. Pham Thanh Tung - a resident of Duyen Hai town - said that he had an accident on this route. Mr. Tung commented that the road section has many potential accident risks due to lack of lighting and degraded road surface.
Previously, I worked as a shrimp processing worker and earned about 7 million VND per month. However, having a car accident requires a day off work for more than a month, which is both a waste of money, time and health, Mr. Tung shared.

Ms. Tram Thi Phan in Duyen Hai town said that for nearly 2 years now, potholes on the road have appeared more and more without anyone repairing them.
She has witnessed many people falling off their vehicles while traveling on this route. The rainy season got worse, with deep potholes and mud blasting on people, posing a very high risk of insecurity.
"People have repeatedly petitioned about the state of road degradation and damage through meetings with voters. But so far, there has been no specific response or handling plan, Ms. Phan added.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nhan - Chairman of Duyen Hai Town People's Committee - confirmed the state of road No. 1 and No. 2 from Duyen Hai Town to Duyen Hai District, 12.9km long, and has been degraded for nearly 2 years.
According to Mr. Nhan, in the meetings of voters, people also reflect the degradation. However, because this road section is directly under the management of Dinh An Economic Zone, the Town People's Committee also receives and proposes to the authorities. Currently, the policy of investment projects to renovate and upgrade this route in the period of 2026 - 2028 with a total budget of over VND 83 billion approved by the Provincial People's Committee.
"The Provincial People's Committee also agreed to install a lighting system with a budget of over 12 billion VND, to ensure traffic safety for people", Mr. Nhan added.
