From December 26th of the lunar calendar (February 13th) to near Tet, on National Highway 1A passing through Thanh Chau residential group (Hoa Thang ward), the Hoa Thang Ward Red Cross Society in coordination with Binh Tay Charity Group organized a program to give free gasoline to people returning to their hometowns for Tet with the theme "This Spring I will return".
In the context of increased traffic volume, especially motorbikes, in the days leading up to Tet, the program has become a meaningful stop for students and workers from southern provinces on their journey home.
Many people travel hundreds of kilometers, carrying luggage packed for a whole year of making a living, taking advantage of going home before New Year's Eve.
According to the organizers, the program has given gasoline and necessities to students and workers from Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri provinces... Each person is supported with 2 to 4 liters of gasoline, along with cakes and drinking water for use along the way.
In total, 750 liters of gasoline were handed over to the people. Along with that were 1,200 cakes, 400 boxes of banh hoi and 1,100 bottles of mineral water. The total value of the program is about 27 million VND.
Amidst the long line of vehicles on the national highway, the image of volunteers kindly pouring gasoline, giving water, and sending wishes for peace on the highway created a special atmosphere.
Mr. Tran Tuan Tu - from Quang Ngai - shared that on the journey from Ho Chi Minh City to his hometown, the above support is not only material support, the program also contributes to spreading the spirit of sharing, adding motivation for children far from home to firmly steer on the year-end journey.
It is known that this is the 3rd year that the Binh Tay Charity Group has coordinated with the locality to organize this activity.
Also on the day near Tet, the government of Dai Lanh commune organized "Meaningful Rest Stop" for people far from home to return home for Tet.

The activity is deployed along the road through the commune - where a large number of workers ride motorbikes from the southern provinces towards the Central and Northern regions.
Here, the units presented 500 gifts, including cakes, milk and mineral water, to support workers on their long journey.
This is a very meaningful activity, expressing the feelings of associations and unions of Dai Lanh commune with the desire for everyone to have a journey home to reunite with their families safely and warmly.
In the context of gasoline and oil prices, travel costs are still a burden for many low-income workers, these practical supports help reduce some financial pressure.
More importantly, timely attention also contributes to reminding people to rest, check vehicles before continuing to move, and limit risks on the road.
In the days leading up to Tet, National Highway 1A becomes a special "flow" of emotions. On each motorbike are family, backpacks, styrofoam boxes, cakes and the eagerness to return to a familiar home. That journey may be long, may be tiring, but meaningful stops have added faith and warmth.
When Tet is approaching, each liter of gasoline given, each bottle of water donated not only helps people travel a few dozen kilometers more, but also helps them feel more clearly the community's concern on their return journey.
