According to a quick report from the Da Nang City Civil Defense Command (PTDS), the prolonged heavy rain from October 25 has dumped record rainfall in the area, many places recorded total rainfall of over 1,500mm, some places up to 1,752.6mm (Tra Giap). Heavy rain caused flash floods and serious landslides, turning many roads into rivers, submerging a series of residential areas.
The flood caused 8 deaths, including extremely tragic cases such as Ho Minh Dang (born in 2017) who slipped and fell into a sewer, or cases of being electrocuted to death in flooded areas. Currently, 4 people are still missing due to being swept away by water while fishing or moving in floods. In addition, 31 others were injured.

According to preliminary statistics, there are currently 54 houses completely collapsed, 96 houses are severely damaged, and 76,427 households are deeply submerged in water. Thousands of livestock and poultry were swept away, hundreds of hectares of rice, crops and aquaculture areas were lost.
The flood also caused 10 communes and wards to be completely isolated, and 29 other communes and wards were heavily flooded. A series of key routes such as National Highway 1A (section through Dien Ban), National Highway 40B, 14H and provincial roads were cut off, flooded from 0.6m to 2m deep, causing traffic to be almost paralyzed.
Faced with the complicated developments of floods, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang, Chairman of the City People's Committee Pham Duc An and leaders directly went to the "flood center" to inspect and direct on-site response work.
Previously, on the afternoon of October 29, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired an urgent meeting in Da Nang, and directly inspected flooded and landslide areas to direct the recovery work.
To date, the forces have safely evacuated 4,835 households/15,886 people from the danger zone. The work of supplying food and provisions to isolated areas was also urgently deployed. The hydroelectric reservoirs in the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin have been operating effectively, retaining hundreds of millions of cubic meters of water, contributing to significantly reducing floods in the downstream area.
According to the forecast, floods on rivers are receding slowly. Currently, the City People's Committee is directing forces to focus on overcoming landslides to clear traffic routes, while preparing plans to support people to clean up their houses and stabilize their lives immediately after the water recedes.
