On the morning of May 22, at the National Martyrs' Cemetery of Road 9, Quang Tri province solemnly held a memorial service and burial ceremony for the remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Savannakhet province (Laos), gathered in the 2024 - 2025 dry season.
The memorial service took place solemnly and emotionally. The delegates respectfully offered incense and flowers to express gratitude to the outstanding children of the nation who died for the independence, freedom of the Fatherland and noble international duties.
The leaders of Quang Tri province affirmed that the sacrifice of the martyrs is forever an immortal symbol of patriotism, the pride of the Party, State and People. At the same time, he expressed his deep gratitude to Savannakhet province (Laos) for accompanying and helping Quang Tri in the search and excavation of remains.
This is the 39th gathering since 1994, continuing to affirm the tradition of "Remembering the source of drinking water" and the responsibility of the Party Committee, government, armed forces, and people of Quang Tri - Savannakhet provinces towards the martyrs who sacrificed.
Quang Tri province acknowledged and commended the persistent efforts of the officers and soldiers of the 584th Group - Provincial Military Command who did not hesitate to suffer, and excellently completed the sacred tasks assigned.
After the memorial service, the remains of the martyrs were buried at the National Martyrs' Cemetery, Road 9 - the eternal resting place of more than 10,000 martyrs.
