The planning area of the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center in Hang Gon commune has a scale of 96.67 hectares, bordering Xuan Dinh commune, Xuan Loc district to the East, and the land for perennial crops to the North, South and West (according to the general planning of Long Khanh city, it is the land of Hang Gon industrial park).
The investor is the Ministry of Science and Technology. The investor's representative is the Project Management Board of the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center. The planning capital comes from the State budget.
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology Research in Hang Gon commune is a center for nuclear science and technology research that has invested in building a synchronous technical infrastructure system including a research reactor with a capacity of 10MWt, laboratories and related equipment; construction items of the irradiation material research block, the radioactive isotope research and production block, the technical assurance building and auxiliary items.
The planning objective is to strengthen the national potential for research and application of nuclear science and technology. Develop a team of highly qualified specialized scientists capable of absorbing and mastering advanced nuclear technology. Expand and promote the application of nuclear energy in socio-economic development.
Construct a nuclear science and technology research center with a research reactor. Construct a technology system, laboratories and equipment related to research and application; construct auxiliary works to operate and exploit the reactor.
Training a team of research and technical staff to serve the application of nuclear science, develop key economic sectors, agriculture, industry, health, minerals, and socio-economic fields.
The total expected workforce for the entire Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center is about 800 - 1,000 specialists and experts.
