Gia Lai - Tuy Phuoc commune has quickly completed 16 shelters for people in flood-stricken areas, bringing the "Quang Trung Campaign" to the finish line ahead of schedule.

On January 10, Tuy Phuoc commune (Gia Lai) organized a ceremony to summarize the completion of the "Quang Trung Campaign" - lightning-fast construction and repair of houses for people affected by storms and floods, and early rebuilding of homes before the 2026 Lunar New Year.

After 2 historic storms and floods occurred continuously in November 2025, Tuy Phuoc commune had 16 houses collapsed, 172 houses had their roofs completely blown off, 240 houses had their roofs partially blown off..., total damage is estimated at about 860 billion VND.

Among the 16 houses that collapsed and need to be rebuilt, 12 houses were directly supported by the army and police forces for construction; the remaining 4 houses were contracted by households themselves with contractors.

Along with the provincial budget, Tuy Phuoc commune has mobilized socialized resources with a total budget of more than 1.5 billion VND to further support people in building and repairing houses.

Up to now, all households whose houses have been completely and partially blown off have been repaired; 16 newly built houses have been completed miraculously, ensuring quality and handed over to people, helping households have new spacious shelters and feel secure in working and producing.

Ms. Luong Thi Mai (born 1952, residing in Phu My 3 hamlet, Tuy Phuoc commune) shared that when she returned home after the storm subsided, she was shocked when her whole family's house was only left with rubble. At that time, she seemed to collapse because she did not know where to find money to rebuild a new house when she was old and weak.

The house collapsed, two sons had to take their wives and children to their parents' house to rely on, while Mrs. Mai could only temporarily stay in a cramped bathroom - a property left over from the fierce storm.

Immediately after the campaign was launched, Ms. Mai's shelter was supported by forces to rebuild spaciously with a total cost of 250 million VND, of which the province supported 60 million VND, the police force supported 50 million VND, philanthropists contributed 40 million VND, and the rest was accumulated by the family.

The new 70m2 house was built by the police force in just half a month. My family is very happy, very grateful," Ms. Mai said emotionally.

At the ceremony, Ms. Le Thi Vinh Huong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tuy Phuoc commune - respectfully thanked the responsible and affectionate support of the army and police forces throughout the campaign, along with the noble and kind gestures of friendly localities, businesses, sponsors, and philanthropists who joined hands to help the people of Tuy Phuoc commune soon rebuild their homes after the natural disaster.

According to Ms. Huong, after more than 1 month of implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign", Tuy Phuoc commune has completed the repair of 428 houses damaged, roofs blown off and completely collapsed due to storms and floods. The campaign was completed 5 days earlier than the deadline assigned by the province, helping difficult households have solid and safe accommodation to celebrate Spring and welcome Tet.

The Quang Trung Campaign is a correct and timely policy of the Government, carrying profound humanistic meaning; mobilizing the strength of the entire political system and the whole society, consolidating the people's trust in the Party and the State," Ms. Huong emphasized.

In Gia Lai, after more than 1 month of campaign implementation, the whole province has completed the repair of 27,522 heavily damaged houses; 674 collapsed houses are completing the final stages, expected to be handed over to people on January 12. Thus, Gia Lai has brought "Quang Trung Campaign" to the finish line earlier than the timeline of January 15 according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
