After 4 years of implementation, the East-West main road connecting National Highway 1K to Hanoi Highway, passing through the new Mien Dong Bus Station, has completed construction. The project is expected to be opened to traffic in August, after completing the handover and acceptance procedures.
Recorded at the scene, the entire route has been paved with asphalt, painted with lines, installed lighting systems, signs and islets. Vehicles have been tested through the connecting section to Hanoi Highway, showing that the route is ready to be put into operation.

The East-West main road is considered the most beautiful route in Di An (old Binh Duong province) with an investment of more than 700 billion VND. The road is 32 m wide with 6 lanes, and more than 3 km long, connecting National Highway 1K with Hanoi Highway (New Mien Dong Bus Station).

The East-West main road was started by the People's Committee of Di An city (old Binh Duong province) in 2021 and inaugurated in August 2024. However, at that time, about 50 m of the end of the road (the connection point to Hanoi Highway) could not be constructed because this section was part of the Hanoi Highway expansion project invested by Ho Chi Minh City.
After that, the old Di An City People's Committee requested to build this section in time for connection and was approved. The connecting section has an investment capital of about 122 billion VND, of which more than 86 billion VND is compensation for site clearance. Initially, the expected completion time was before the Lunar New Year 2025, then continued to be postponed to April 30 but all missed the deadline.
Currently, the entire route has been basically completed. The auxiliary items such as drainage systems, sidewalks, trees, median strips and lighting have all been completed, creating a synchronous and spacious urban landscape.

According to local people, the East-West main road was once "stuck" just because the 50 m long end connection section could not be constructed, causing the entire route to not be effective.
Mr. Bui Minh Hoan, a resident of Di An ward, shared: Previously, to go from National Highway 1K to Hanoi Highway, you had to go very far, making it inconvenient to travel. Now the last 50 m section has been completed, vehicles can travel easily, and people are very excited. The route significantly shortens the distance, making it much more airy and spacious than before".

The East-West main road is an important traffic project, connecting from National Highway 1K, the gateway to the border of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai to Hanoi Highway, passing through areas such as Ho Chi Minh City National University Village, High-Tech Park, New Mien Dong Bus Station, Metro Station No. 1 and Oncology Hospital, Facility 2.
The completion of the route will help relieve pressure on National Highway 1, reduce traffic congestion at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City such as the Station 2 overpass area, Tan Van intersection at the intersection between Hanoi Highway and Ring Road 3. At the same time, it creates favorable conditions for vehicles from Song Than and Tan Dong Hiep industrial parks to travel to the center of Ho Chi Minh City without having to go around My Phuoc - Tan Van road.
