On July 26, Mr. Nguyen Hue - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Phon commune, Gia Lai province said that he had sent commune and police officers to villages and hamlets in border areas to mobilize people to be vigilant and prevent the risk of African swine fever affecting production and livestock.
Previously, a truck carrying about 9 pigs with signs of infection was thrown away by a rubber garden in Chan village, Ia Pon commune.
People discovered that they had tried to transport the pigs to release in their gardens to raise, waiting for the day to make the meat.
Upon receiving the news, the People's Committee of Ia Pon commune went to each house to mobilize and propagate people to hand over pigs suspected of being infected with African swine fever to destroy them, avoiding the risk of the epidemic spreading strongly.
"The commune has destroyed the pigs collected by people in rubber gardens, and at the same time spread lime powder and disinfected them to destroy pathogens in accordance with regulations.
People are mainly ethnic minorities, so awareness, information and understanding about the epidemic are still limited. Therefore, in the coming time, commune officials will increase propaganda about safe production and farming in the community; do not use, buy, sell or consume dead pigs or infected pigs," said Mr. Nguyen Hue.
Ia Pon commune is one of 9 border communes of Gia Lai province that do not merge administrative boundaries. Along with Ia Chia, Ia O, Ia Dom, Ia Mo, Ia Nan... border communes bordering Cambodia are currently being invested in by the province in infrastructure and material equipment to improve people's lives.
