These days, on Ring Road 1, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, the construction atmosphere is taking place urgently.
According to the records, relevant units are mobilizing maximum human resources and equipment to soon complete the site clearance work so that the contractor can soon start construction. In particular, the area that was once densely populated with houses, shops and temporary structures around two major hospitals, the National Children's Hospital and the Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, has been almost completely dismantled, returning a spacious and airy space. The entire block of wooden furniture and furniture businesses on both sides of La Thanh Street is no longer there.
Witnessing the road changing day by day, many people living in the area could not hide their excitement, hoping that when the project is completed, it will end the congestion that has lasted for many years.
Mr. Tran Van Thai, a resident of Giang Vo ward, said that this road section was often congested, especially during rush hour, making travel extremely tiring. "Up to now, the site has been cleared, the roads are more spacious, everyone is happy and hopes the project will be completed soon," Mr. Thai shared.
Sharing the same feeling, Mr. Do Hung Thach (Hai Ba Trung ward) said that the project has been mentioned for many years, but only recently have there been clear changes.
The Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section of Ring Road 1 was once a long-standing project due to land clearance problems. However, in the past week, the progress has been accelerated drastically. O Cho Dua, Giang Vo and Lang wards have increased propaganda, organized enforcement, and reclaimed more than 153,300m2 of land from 1,983 households and organizations to serve the project construction.
Mr. Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, said that in just over 5 months, the relevant wards have completed compensation, support, and resettlement for 1,295 households, a figure far exceeding the results of many previous years (in 7 years, the old districts only resolved 686 households). This is considered an important breakthrough, because this area was once considered the most complicated bottleneck of the project.
The Ring Road 1 project, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, is over 2.2km long, with a cross-section of 50m, and a total investment of over VND 7,200 billion from the city budget. On the route, two more direct overpasses will be built at Lang Ha and Nguyen Chi Thanh intersections, contributing to significantly improving traffic capacity.
Immediately after receiving the clean site, contractors will start construction, striving to open the technical route before January 15, 2026. The city requires the City Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board to immediately calculate the construction plan as soon as possible. The construction process must minimize the impact on people's travel, be as neat as the fence is and focus on regulating traffic.
People hope that when the project is completed, not only the urban appearance of the central area will be changed, but the traffic bottlenecks that have existed for many years will be removed, creating momentum for the socio-economic development of the capital.
