Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien - Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee - said that after the merger, the province has a coastline of more than 130km, with advantages for developing the marine economy and renewable energy.
The coastal areas of Ba Tri, Thanh Phu and Ba Dong have an average wind speed of 7-8 m/s, very suitable for implementing large-capacity wind power projects, contributing to environmental protection and reducing emissions.
The V1-2, V1-5, V1-6 wind power projects phase 2 and Dong Hai 3 (V3-3) have just been launched, with a total capacity of 224MW, with an investment capital of more than VND 11,000 billion.
Expected to be completed and put into commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2026, providing about 718 million kWh of clean electricity, contributing over 100 billion VND to the budget each year, while promoting the local economy.

Vinh Long has attracted 18 wind power projects with a total capacity of 1,100MW, many projects have been operated, contributing 30 billion kWh/year, with a total value of 25,000 billion VND. Currently, the province plans 45 projects with a total capacity of 3,855MW, calling for investment, said Mr. Thien.
"When the projects are put into operation, Vinh Long will become a renewable energy center of the Mekong Delta. The province will accompany investors, ensure progress, quality and improve people's lives, towards sustainable development, carbon neutrality in 2050", Mr. Thien emphasized.
The V1-2, V1-3, V1-5, V1-6 wind power projects in phase 2 and Dong Hai 3 are not only a project to celebrate the Provincial Party Congress 2025-2030, but also an important step in Vinh Long's green energy development strategy.
Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien said that the sea area is nearly 15,000km2 wide, with winds of 7-8 m/s, making it very suitable for large-capacity wind power. Currently, the province plans 45 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 3,855MW, calling for strong investment.
The transmission infrastructure system with 21 110kV stations, 8 220kV stations, 3 500kV stations and a power line network from 0.4kV to 500kV will ensure capacity release and inter-regional connection. This is a key factor to help the project be implemented on schedule, with quality and safety, Mr. Thien emphasized.

Mr. Thien also affirmed that the province will support investors in removing difficulties in site clearance, procedures and transport infrastructure, and at the same time request the project to pay attention to local workers, fulfill social responsibility, and improve people's lives.
When completed, the wind power projects will create tourism highlights, attract foreign investment, create jobs and increase people's income.
"The province orients economic development in combination with clean energy, green industry, high-tech agriculture, and at the same time recommends that the Central Government invest in a synchronous power grid to be carbon neutral by 2050", Mr. Thien emphasized.
