"Through initial inspection, the above landslide did not cause any damage to people or property. The landslide location is far from residential areas. The cause of the landslide was determined to be due to heavy rain, which led to the landslide" - Mr. Bao said.

According to Mr. Bao, the landslide area of Kha Phong mountain is a stone quarry licensed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to be used as raw materials for But Son Cement Factory. However, the mine has expired, the mining unit has also stopped operations and moved machinery and equipment out of this area since April 2025.

"Currently, the local government has put up warning signs and set up barriers to prevent people from approaching the landslide area. At the same time, we are also coordinating with relevant units to complete the procedures for closing the mine. According to regulations, the time to complete the mine closure is 6 months from the date of expiration of the exploitation period" - Mr. Bao added.

Previously, as Lao Dong Electronic reported, at noon on June 26, when people in Kha Phong village, Tam Chuc ward, Ninh Binh province were having lunch at home, they suddenly heard a loud explosion, then ran out to see and saw hundreds of rocks of stone falling from high mountains.

The landslide situation has made many households living near this area very worried, when there are still hundreds of hanging rocks on the top of the high mountain, at risk of landslides at any time because the "open frog's jaw" is below.

People here hope that the local government as well as the functional agencies of Ninh Binh province will soon have a solution to stabilize their lives and no longer worry.
