The landslide occurred in Doai village (formerly Kha Phong commune, Kim Bang district, old Ha Nam province), now Tam Chuc ward, Ninh Binh province.
People here said that the landslide occurred at noon on June 26, when they were at home, they suddenly heard a loud explosion, then ran out to see and saw hundreds of rocks of stone falling from a high mountain.
"The landslide area is far from the houses of households, and there is a distance of a pond, so the landslide rock did not stick into the house" - Mr. Le Van Thanh, a household living near the landslide area, said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thac, a witness to the landslide, recounted: "Rocks from the mountain are ten meters high and slide down, dust flies everywhere. It was too dangerous, from that day until now, my whole family has had to stay at relatives' houses. Every day, I just come back from house to feed the chickens and ducks and leave, I don't dare to stay long."
According to Ms. Thac, the landslide area was previously a raw material mine of a business. Recently, this enterprise has stopped exploiting and withdrawn all the machinery to another location.
The landslide situation has made many households living near this area very worried, when there are still hundreds of hanging rocks on the top of the high mountain, at risk of landslides at any time because the "open frog's jaw" is below.
If there is no treatment plan, these large rocks will be thrown all over National Highway 21A when they slide down. This not only endangers households but also affects vehicles passing through this area.

Regarding the above incident, on July 8, Mr. Pham Hoang Tung - Chairman of Tam Chuc Ward said that the locality is preparing a report on the landslide in Doai village to send to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, requesting a handling plan, and at the same time proposing resettlement for affected households.
According to Mr. Tung, after the landslide occurred, the locality urgently evacuated 2 households to a safe place. The local authorities have also put up warning signs in dangerous areas, prohibiting people from getting near.
Faced with the landslide situation, which poses a potential risk to their lives and property, the people here hope that the local government as well as the functional agencies of Ninh Binh province will soon have a solution to stabilize their lives and no longer worry.
