On July 21, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued a decision to administratively sanction Central Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company 3, with Mr. Truong Thoai Nhan as General Director, with a total fine of 97 million VND.
The enterprise was fined VND 7 million for transferring waste in violation of regulations and VND 90 million for violating the content of the approved environmental impact assessment report.
In addition, the City People's Committee requires the company to restore the environmental status and report the remedial results within 1 day from the date of receipt of the decision, all costs must be paid by the enterprise itself.
On June 10, people discovered 11 plastic bags containing 98.4kg of branded drug Cetecoenzetilax cinarizin 25mg damaged and thrown away on the sidewalk of Xuan Thieu 21 Street (Lien Chieu Ward, Da Nang City). Through inspection, the authorities determined that this amount of medicine belonged to Central Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company 3.
Regarding this incident, the Drug Administration of Vietnam - Ministry of Health previously requested the revocation of more than 169,000 pills of the same type due to not meeting quality standards. Although Central Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company 3 prepared the destruction file and committed to hand it over to the competent unit, in fact, it was transferred to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nhan, the scrap collector, for self-destruction.
According to the explanation, because the official destruction fee at Khanh Son landfill was too high (700,000 VND/vehicle), the scrap buyer brought all the medicine to dump on the vacant land on Xuan Thieu 21 Street, leading to the discovery.
