The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has just sent a document to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Kien Giang on proactively responding to low pressure areas in the North East Sea area that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a low pressure area has been formed in the North East Sea area. At 7:00 a.m. on June 9, the low pressure area was located at about 17.0-18.0 degrees North latitude, 117.2-118.2 degrees East longitude; it is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the low pressure area will move slowly in the West direction and is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression; in addition, the sea area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, the southern sea area between the East Sea and the South East Sea area will have strong southwest winds of level 5-6, gusting to level 7-8.
To proactively respond to low pressure areas in the East Sea and strong winds at sea, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment recommends that provinces and cities closely monitor warnings, forecasts and developments of low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions; notify captains and owners of vehicles and boats operating at sea to proactively avoid and ensure safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle possible bad situations.
Prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when situations arise. The agency seriously and regularly reports to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (through the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control).
