On December 21, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dam Rong district, Lam Dong province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the district's founding (December 30, 2004 - December 30, 2024).
On November 17, 2004, the Government issued Decree (No. 189/2004/ND-CP) on the establishment of Dam Rong district. The administrative boundaries are based on the separation of 5 communes: Lieng S'Rong, Da Rsal, Phi Lieng, Da K'Nang, Ro Men (belonging to Lam Ha district) and 3 communes: Da M'Rong, Da Tong, Da Long (belonging to Lac Duong district).
Dam Rong District currently has a natural area of 87,000 hectares with more than 60,000 people. The district has 30 ethnic groups living together. Of which, ethnic minorities are over 39,000 people, accounting for 65% of the district's population.
When it was first established, the district faced many difficulties due to its low economic base, extensive and fragmented terrain, and the poverty rate of more than 70%. The average income per capita was only 2.4 million VND/year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Huu Dong - Chairman of Dam Rong District People's Committee shared that over the years, the Party Committee and government of Dam Rong District have always been responsible, concerned, researched, creative, and proposed appropriate policies, solutions and roadmaps to build a comprehensively developed district.
Currently, average income per capita has increased 18 times, from 2.8 million VND/person in 2004 to 51.6 million VND/person in 2024.
According to Mr. Dong, in recent years, the district's economic structure has shifted in a positive direction. Agricultural production accounts for 49%; industry - construction accounts for 22%; trade - services have developed rapidly, accounting for 28%.
The whole district has 8/8 communes meeting new rural standards and is continuing the program of building advanced, exemplary new rural areas.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chau - Secretary of Dam Rong District Party Committee emphasized: "The development of the district today has the contribution of more than 1,800 cadres, Party members, business community and more than 60,000 people".
In the coming time, Dam Rong district will continue to seek financial support from the Central Government, the province, organizations and individuals, combined with local resources.
Thereby investing in, renovating and upgrading technical infrastructure works, improving people's lives.

At the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Lam Dong province - Pham Thi Phuc praised the achievements and acknowledged the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dam Rong district over the past 20 years.
According to Ms. Phuc, in order for Dam Rong to move forward steadily, overcome difficulties and reap many achievements in the coming years, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee should continue the guiding viewpoints and major orientations of the Central and the province.
The district needs to set out directions, goals, tasks, and breakthrough solutions, determined to build a locality that develops quickly and sustainably.
"The district needs to quickly reorganize the apparatus in the political system to ensure streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency. From there, train and arrange the right staff for the right job and the right level to maximize capacity" - Ms. Phuc emphasized.
Over the years, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dam Rong district have been awarded many Emulation Flags and Certificates of Merit by the Government and People's Committee for their outstanding achievements.
Dam Rong District was also awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President. These achievements have made many important contributions to the overall achievements of Lam Dong province.
