On July 15, the Outpatient Emergency Team of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Hoang Anh Gia Lai received an urgent call about the case of a newborn baby, 35 weeks pregnant, in a state of respiratory failure, requiring urgent medical assistance in the border area of Atapu province (Laos).
Immediately, the emergency team set off, traveling more than 100km to the international border gate. At the scene, the child was determined to be weighing only 1.9 kg, breathing rapidly, diligently, with purple head and limbs, unable to suck, a typical manifestation of neonatal respiratory failure.
The team performed first aid, care, respiratory support, infusion and quickly transferred the baby to the ambulance, continuously monitoring the vital signs on the way to the hospital.
After returning to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Hoang Anh Gia Lai, the child was transferred to the Pediatric Department for further monitoring and intensive treatment.
Currently, Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital not only receives patients in the province but also supports emergency care and treatment for people in neighboring provinces of Laos and Cambodia.
