On the morning of June 14, information from the People's Committee of Tan An City (Long An Province) said that it had coordinated with the Provincial Police and the People's Committee of Huong Tho Phu Commune to inspect the compliance with the law on environmental protection of Kaly Import-Export Company Limited located in Hamlet 2, Huong Tho Phu Commune.
Through inspection, the Police made a record of violation, then issued Decision No. 355/QD-XPHC, sanctioning administrative violations in the environmental field with the amount of 120 million VND for discharging wastewater exceeding the permitted standards into the environment outside.
The People's Committee of Tan An City has also issued Decision No. 1723/QD-XPHC, sanctioning administrative violations in the environmental field with the amount of 35 million VND for not properly implementing the content of the confirmed environmental records.
Currently, the Provincial Police, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the People's Committee of Huong Tho Phu commune are supervising the remedial work of Kaly Import-Export Company Limited. If the company continues to violate the authorities, it will advise the People's Committee of Tan An City to suspend operations and relocate to another location to ensure the environment.
Previously, residents of Huong Tho Phu commune, Tan An city reported that Kaly Import-Export Company located in the commune discharged wastewater into the river, causing the polluted water source to not be able to get water for use in rice production.
