On March 31, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee agreed in principle, assigning the Provincial Civil Works Project Management Board to deploy procedures to build two bridges in the disaster zone in Ia Pa and Sró communes.
In Ia Pa commune, the investment scope of the project has its starting point at Km0+000, intersecting with Km391+260 of the Truong Son Dong route. The ending point is at Km0+900, intersecting with the existing cement concrete road to Mo Nang trading.
The total length of the route is about 900m. The project is a flood overpass, simple girder bridge type. The bridge length is about 148m. The total investment of the project is 57 billion VND from the provincial budget, implementation time from 2026 - 2028.
Gia Lai province also agreed with the proposal to invest in the construction of Dak Po Ko bridge in Sró commune. The starting point of the project is at Km6+305 (inter-commune road from Kong Chro commune to Dak Song commune). The ending point of the project is at Km8+280.50 (inter-commune road from Kong Chro commune to Dak Song commune).
The bridge section is permanently built, prestressed reinforced concrete structure, including 6 spans, about 215.5m long. The total investment of the project is about 190 billion VND. Implementation time from 2026 - 2029.
The deployment of the construction of two bridges is of great significance in connecting convenient trade with the outside for people in disaster-stricken areas. In the 2025 rainy and flood season, Ia Pa and Sró communes were heavily affected, traffic roads were landslides, cut off, and isolated hundreds of households.
People have to walk many kilometers on damaged roads to reach the relief rice receiving point. Students have long days off school due to rising floodwaters, threatening their lives.
When floodwaters flooded the roads, the Ia Pa and Sró commune authorities had to assign militia and commune police forces to be on duty regularly, supporting and warning people to limit crossing dangerous floodwater areas.
