Technology cars are crowded on September 2nd, basic fares are stable

Increased travel demand during the September 2nd holiday makes the operation of technology cars in Ho Chi Minh City more bustling. However, basic fares are stable.

On August 30, on many roads in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, the traffic volume was quite large. The demand for using technology cars also increased at some crowded points when people started daily entertainment and sightseeing trips.

According to records, before booking a car, many people tend to check and compare prices on applications to choose suitable vehicles. For short trips in the central area, people can consider between technology car booking applications and traditional car companies depending on their needs.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung (living in Dien Hong ward) said that his family chose a technology car on holidays because it is convenient and he does not have to find parking spaces at entertainment venues.

“Before booking, I usually check the price on the apps. If the price is much higher than usual, the family will consider switching to another vehicle or waiting a while and then booking again. Today, I moved from alley 666, 3 Thang 2 street to the old Mien Dong bus station area, on the regular car booking app it was about 121,000 VND, while the electric car company was 117,000 VND. This price is still quite reasonable like on normal days I often book” - Mr. Hung said.

In crowded areas, some technology car drivers said that the number of trips during holidays often increases, especially during hours when people start going out or returning home. However, according to drivers, fares sometimes increase slightly but not significantly.

Fare only slightly increases during some peak hours, while other hours are still normal. However, due to many drivers taking holidays while people's travel demand is increasing, calling a car at some times is difficult because customers have to wait a long time for drivers to pick up their rides" - Mr. Nguyen Tran Linh, a technology car driver living in Ben Thanh ward, said.

Meanwhile, with traditional car companies, fares are calculated according to the listed prices of each business. Some drivers said that although the number of passengers increases on holidays, fares are still calculated according to the meter and policies of the company, instead of drivers arbitrarily raising prices.

Talking to Lao Dong, a representative of Be technology car company said that during the September 2nd holiday, the unit implemented a number of promotional programs with preferential rates from 20-50% for customers. Accordingly, the programs are applied during the specific time of the holiday to encourage people to use services when travel, entertainment, and shopping needs increase. Some incentives are implemented according to the time frame, depending on the application conditions and limited quantity.

In addition, passengers can use the "Inter-connected booking" feature (Be - Metro - Be) on the Hanoi Metro App to connect routes by technology car and train.

For the "Interconnected Flight Booking" feature, the promotion program currently applies a 15% discount on the trip value, up to 50,000 VND, with 30,000 promotion codes issued. The program lasts until September 30, 2026 or until the number of promotion codes is used up, depending on which condition comes first.

The fact that technology car prices change according to demand at each time makes people tend to check prices before booking, especially in crowded areas and during peak hours during holidays.
