On March 12, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to collect opinions on the list of 50 outstanding individuals in the cause of building, protecting and developing Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 1975-2025.
The list of proposals includes many leaders and former leaders of the Party and State through the ages, who have made many important contributions to the development of the city and the country.
Among the 13 individuals in the political and state management sector, there are many big names such as former General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh, who persistently summarized socio-economic practices, especially the results of the policy of "S Treat the Fence Out" in Ho Chi Minh City's industrial production. He has piloted changes in the economic management mechanism in a number of state-owned enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City.

Former Chairman of the Council of Minister Pham Hung is the one who supported the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City to create economic innovation, not institutionalize economic relations; create conditions for Ho Chi Minh City to directly import and export, and buy rice directly from the provinces of the Mekong Delta.
Former Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, the pioneer of "Se lo lo ra" to direct the implementation of plans A, B, C to restore industrial production, restore the economy; direct the rice-powered food company to fight hunger; direct the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union; build Tri An Hydropower Plant; build a 1,500 km North-South 500 kV Power Transmission line.
Former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, who has contributed many ways, suggested that the Central Government have correct and appropriate decisions to bring the country to innovation and development. His mark is his contribution to the construction of Ho Chi Minh City in many fields, especially in the traffic of the new construction of Cong Hoa road, Tan Binh district.
Former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho has contributed to the important victories of the army and people of the South, mobilizing a series of prestigious intellectuals, monks, and outstanding officials in Saigon and many cities in the South to go to the liberation zone, establish the Alliance of ethnic, democratic and peaceful forces of Vietnam.
The list also includes former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Vo Tran Chi; Mr. Tran Van Tra, Former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Commission, Commander of the Southern Liberation Army and Deputy Commander of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign; former Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs Vu Hac Bong; former President Truong Tan Sang; former President Nguyen Minh Triet.
In addition, there are Lieutenant General Vo Viet Thanh, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Deputy Minister of Public Security; former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Pham Chanh Truc; former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Pham Phuong Thao.
In addition to leaders in the political field, the list also includes many outstanding individuals in other fields such as social activities, education, health, science and technology, culture and arts, economy, national defense and security, and ethnicity and religion.
Some other prominent individuals include former Vice President Truong My Hoa, People's Doctors Tran Dong A, Nguyen Chan Hung, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong, scientist Dang Luong Mo, researcher Nguyen Dinh Dau, writer Tran Bach Dang, Dr. Tran Du Lich and Hero Nguyen Van Tau (Tu Cang).
The selection and honoring of these 50 outstanding individuals is a meaningful activity, demonstrating Ho Chi Minh City's recognition and gratitude for the great contributions of generations of leaders and people in the cause of building and developing the city.
