Can only sit and wait for the house to collapse
In recent days, many households living on the banks of the Da Nhim River (D'ran Commune, Lam Dong Province) have been sitting on the fire pile when their houses - the amount of assets accumulated for many years - are being destroyed by floodwaters. Many households had to evacuate their homes to other places to ensure safety. According to local residents, on November 19, heavy rain combined with Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower Company released overflow, causing deep flooding in residential areas and agricultural production areas in D'ran commune.
When the water receded, the banks of the Da Nhim River and the downstream section of the Don Duong Bridge area appeared cracks that ran long, and soil in many places collapsed into the river. Many areas of productive land were eroded and the rivers flowed, causing serious damage.
Seeing the destroyed house, Mr. Nguyen Van Doan, D'ran commune, sadly said: "I have built more than 30 concrete pillars to prevent landslides, but still cannot withstand the recent flood. Now, all the items in the house have to be moved to another place because they are afraid of further landslides. Seeing the house like a broken car and a river floating, my husband and I feel like we have broken our intestines.
Not far from Mr. Doan's house is Mr. Tran Pho Tau's house, which is also being gradually pulled down to the river by the "river". Mr. Tau said that the water eroded into the riverbank, causing landslides, the reinforced concrete works above had their feet missing and collapsed into the river. "The landslide gradually eroded deep into the mainland, causing the remaining house to cracked dangerously, forcing my family to leave the house" - Mr. Tau said choking up.

Forced to urgently evacuate 6 households
Seeing the house with torn walls, foundation and part of the roof collapsing into the river, Mr. Tran Tin Pao could not hide his grief. Having evacuated to a safe place, Mr. Pao still often returned to visit and grasp the situation of the house.
"The house collapsed, but I am very regretful. I come back here at least twice a day to check the situation. His father said, just settle down and make a living. Now that the house is gone, how can we find a way to settle down in the future? - Mr. Pao sadly thought about the future.
Mr. Dinh Viet Dung - Chairman of the People's Committee of D'ran commune (Lam Dong) - said: "After the historic flood on November 19, on December 1, the downstream area of Da Nhim river started to have the above landslide. The landslides are becoming more and more serious, directly affecting the houses and works of 6 households. Currently, all affected households have been evacuated from the dangerous area by the locality to ensure safety".
According to Mr. Dung, the locality is closely monitoring the landslide situation to deploy response plans. At the same time, promptly support and report to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to have a support plan for people whose houses and land were damaged by landslides.
