Quang Tri - The impact of storm No. 5 caused many cages of fish and oyster farmers in coastal areas to be anchored by large waves, risking billions of dong in damage.

On August 25, Mr. Cao Thai, a household in Phu Trach commune (Quang Tri province) said that the area off the coast of Hon La experienced high waves and continuous gusts of wind.

Many of his family's fish rafts were hit by waves, many cages were severely damaged, with estimated losses of billions of dong.

Mr. Thai said that there were no people on the raft, only observing through the camera could see many rafts washed away by waves.

At the edge of the storm, the Roon River area (Hoa Trach commune), strong winds will blow in waves, scattered rain. Many oyster farming households hung ropes on the Loan River, worried about the big waves, strong winds and rising river water that could easily affect them.

According to the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command, the locality has requested fishermen to urgently bring their boats ashore, move people out of the danger zone, and arrange forces on duty 24/7.

The authorities of coastal communes also advise people to limit going out and closely monitor weather forecasts to promptly prevent storm No. 5 from reaching the shore.
