On June 19, Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Binh province, Tran Cong Tam, said that he had coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Ly ward to promptly handle the case of dead pigs thrown into irrigation ditches in residential group 14.
Previously, on June 18, after receiving information from people about the appearance of dead pigs in the irrigation ditch area, the professional force directly inspected the scene. The results showed that 4 pigs had died, were in the process of decomposing, causing a risk of pollution and potential spread of the disease.
Immediately afterwards, at 2:30 p.m., the Livestock and Veterinary Station worked with the People's Committee of Bac Ly Ward to agree on an urgent landfill plan to prevent the risk of an outbreak. On the same afternoon, all pig carcasses were collected and buried in accordance with regulations on animal disease prevention.
According to the assessment of the professional team, throwing dead animals into the environment is a very risky behavior, especially in the context of prolonged hot weather, easily causing pathogens to be transmitted through water, air and insects. If not handled promptly, it can affect the environment, public health and surrounding livestock production.
Quang Ninh - Dong Hoi Livestock and Veterinary Station has reported the incident to Dong Hoi City People's Committee, and at the same time requested local authorities to strengthen propaganda and supervision to detect and strictly handle similar acts.
