On August 1, Mr. Phan Duc Luan - Chairman of Thanh Thinh Commune People's Committee (Thai Nguyen) informed that the commune had just recorded an unusual sinkhole in the area of Thom Ca - Keo Pho, Na Quang village.
The sinkhole appeared next to the left side of the inter-commune road, from Thanh Thinh to Yen Binh. The hole is about 0.7m in diameter, with an estimated depth of 3 - 5m.
A branch of the hole has eaten deep into the roadbed, forming an empty section about 2m long. The remaining branch is towards the mountain center, and the specific depth has not yet been determined.
Near this location, about 20m away, a small sinkhole had previously appeared at the foot of the positive slope, with a mouth about 0.5m wide.
According to local authorities, the area where the subsidence occurred has rocky terrain, easily causing unusual geological phenomena.
Immediately after the discovery, we have isolated, put up warning ropes and are continuing to monitor to find a suitable direction for handling, said the local leader.
It is known that the Thom Ca - Keo Pho area currently has about 10 households living, more than 10km from the commune center.
Previously, at the end of 2024, Thanh Thinh commune recorded a large sinkhole in Na O village. This hole appeared in the middle of a household's corn field, more than 4m deep, filled with water.
