Accordingly, on National Highway 279, landslides occurred at Km62+100, Km66+800, causing local traffic congestion. At around 8:00 a.m. on July 26, the landslides were basically handled to temporarily open to traffic.
On National Highway 12, landslides occurred at Km119+500 and Km120+650, the management unit mobilized excavators to urgently clear a large amount of rock and soil.

In particular, at Km120 National Highway 12, the phenomenon of rolling rocks and falling rocks continues to occur, posing a very high risk of traffic insecurity. In addition, many provincial roads were also severely affected by many landslides.
A representative of Road Joint Stock Company 226 said that they have directed the unit to continuously monitor the situation. If the rain continues to be heavy or there is a risk of insecurity, the road will be closed and vehicles will be allowed to travel through the old National Highway 12.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 24 hours (from 5:00 a.m. on July 25 to 5:00 a.m. on July 26), Dien Bien province has had moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places with very heavy rain such as Muong Pon 113.2mm, Muong Tung 99.2mm.
Soil moisture models show that some areas are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state.
