On June 3, in Dien Bien province, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee met to listen to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee report on the progress of establishing Thai Nguyen University Branch and the Project to merge colleges.
Accordingly, the Thai Nguyen University branch in Dien Bien province was established on the basis of resources and facilities of the Pedagogical College and the Medical College. The head office is located at Dien Bien Pedagogical College.
In 2025 - 2026, the school will continue to train 2 college-level majors: preschool education and nursing; 3 intermediate majors (nursing, general medicine, pharmacy).
At the same time, develop the following sectors: Primary education; preschool education; tourism and travel service management (or tourism); Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture.
In the 2026 - 2030 period, Mong language pedagogical training; historical - geographical pedagogical training; Chinese language; nursing; forestry (specializing in combined forestry); animal husbandry - veterinary medicine; medicine; economy (or digital economy); natural science pedagogical; agricultural technology.
With an annual enrollment scale of 450 to 700 students at intermediate, college, and university levels. Regarding the organizational structure, after the establishment of Thai Nguyen University Branch, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy will be added.
For the project of merging vocational colleges, medical colleges into the College of Economics - Technology and renamed it to Dien Bien College. The Ministry of Education and Training suggested that the province only merge vocational colleges into the College of Economics and Technology.
The Medical College proposes to consider including in the content of the Project to establish Thai Nguyen University Branch to suit the needs of developing medical human resources in the coming time.
At the meeting, Mr. Tran Quoc Cuong - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee unanimously agreed on the establishment of Thai Nguyen University and agreed to keep the name of Dien Bien College after merging colleges. At the same time, these are the necessary and urgent tasks, which are important for the development of the province.
