According to a quick report from the Vietnam Road Administration on the afternoon of September 22, this unit continues to synchronously deploy disaster prevention, control and recovery solutions according to the direction of the Ministry of Construction, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense and relevant agencies.
According to the Road Administration, as of 2 pm on September 22, traffic on national highways and expressways managed by the Department, VEC and PPP projects was still normal, without any congestion.
However, compared to the report on September 21, heavy rain has caused 4 positive taluy landslide points on the Truong Son Dong road in Lam Dong province.
The landslide locations are at Km642+250, Km642+450, Km649+800 and Km650+550, with a total volume of soil and rock spilling onto the road surface of about 350m3.
Immediately after the incident occurred, road management units deployed forces and machinery to the scene to collect soil and rocks, ensure safe traffic and limit the risk of continued landslides.
Truong Son Dong road is a traffic route with complex hilly terrain, often affected by prolonged heavy rain during the rainy season. Therefore, functional units are continuing to closely monitor the scene, arranging forces to be on duty at key locations to promptly handle if new landslide points appear.
In addition to the landslide incident in Lam Dong, on September 22, the Road Department also recorded 4 flooded locations on National Highway 1 section passing through Thanh Hoa province.
Flooding points appear at Km296+070 - Km296+130, Km296+520 - Km296+550, Km296+850 - Km296+920 and Km297+210 - Km297+270 with an average depth of 5 to 12cm.
However, thanks to more favorable weather and timely monitoring and handling by road management units, by the time of reporting, the water at these locations had completely receded, and traffic was restored to normal.
The quick handling of flooded points has contributed to ensuring safe traffic on the North-South arterial traffic axis, limiting the impact on transportation and people's travel.
According to the assessment of the Vietnam Road Administration, up to now, incidents arising from heavy rain are still being controlled, and have not affected the operational capacity of the national highway and expressway system.
Disaster response and recovery work continues to be maintained at a high level to proactively respond to all possible situations.
