Yesterday (March 20), Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and functional sectors inspected this company. Currently, the incident is being clarified by the police agency and functional forces in coordination" - a representative of Ha Trung Commune People's Committee informed.
Also according to this representative, regarding the business's operations, the locality had previously requested to stop many times, but the business still operated "secretly".
Regarding the production location, this enterprise leased it from another company, whose land origin is commercial services, so the organization of production is wrong. Currently, the company has stopped production activities here.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reflected that recently, many households in hamlet 5, Ha Trung commune, Thanh Hoa province were upset about the fact that a shoe material processing enterprise was operating causing odor pollution, greatly affecting life and activities.
According to people, for decades, they have lived stably, but Sahuntai Vietnam Shoe Material Processing Co., Ltd. has leased land in the Hong Hung supermarket area (belonging to Hong Hung Co., Ltd.) to build a shoe processing workshop, causing pollution odors to cover the residential area.
They started building factories, operating from July 2025, located right next to residential areas. Since operating, there has been no day that we are not upset because of the pungent smell, smelling it makes us feel dizzy" - Mr. Nguyen Cao Son (64 years old, residing in hamlet 5, Ha Trung commune) said.
Too outraged, people have repeatedly petitioned at village meetings and voter meetings; and at the same time sent petitions for "rescue" to Ha Trung Commune People's Committee and Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requesting handling.
Receiving feedback, Ha Trung Commune People's Committee has twice sent documents to Hong Hung Co., Ltd. and Sahuntai Vietnam Shoe Material Processing Co., Ltd., requesting temporary suspension of operations for this production workshop.
However, according to people, despite the local authorities' request, Sahuntai Vietnam Shoe Material Processing Co., Ltd. still ignored it and continued to operate.
