Mobilizing nearly 10,000 officers and soldiers
According to the leader of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, during the peak of floods, nearly 10,000 officers, soldiers and grassroots security forces were mobilized. More than 750 vehicles such as rescue vehicles, canoes, motor boats and other mobile vehicles were deployed continuously to approach landslides and residential areas that were deeply flooded or completely isolated.
To handle rescue requests as quickly as possible, the Provincial Police have established a situation handling center and maintained a 24/7 hotline on duty. In just a few days, the Center received more than 3,000 emergency requestations, many calls from families affected by rapidly rising water levels, isolated elderly people - children - pregnant women, or serious landslides at Khanh Son Pass and Khanh Le Pass.
Thanks to the close coordination between forces and the motto "protecting people's lives is paramount, first of all", thousands of people have been brought to safety. Many cases of injuries, exhaustion or underlying diseases were also given first aid and urgently transported to the nearest medical facility.
The harsh terrain and constantly changing weather caused many obstacles for rescue work. At many points, the force had to cross the rushing water, using ropes or boats to reach households isolated in the middle of the water. However, with a sense of responsibility and resilience, each officer and soldier still tries to overcome difficulties to protect the people.
Commune-level police forces coordinated with militia and local authorities to mobilize and evacuate thousands of households from areas at risk of landslides and deep flooding.
Wherever the water recedes, the consequences will be overcome
Captain Le Ba Khanh - Deputy Head of the Youth Department, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police - shared: "For many days now, hundreds of brothers have not known what a house is! As soon as the water receded, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police continued to carry out post-flood tasks according to the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee. Working groups are allocated to each locality to support people in cleaning up their houses, restoring schools, disinfecting, distributing disease prevention and control drugs and transporting relief goods to people's hands".
Up to now, the Provincial Police have received and distributed over 100 tons of goods, food, and provisions supported by the Ministry of Public Security, the Public Security of units and localities across the country. This is an important resource to help people reduce difficulties before stabilizing their lives after natural disasters.
Implementing the direction of the Minister of Public Security, units under the Mobile Police Command, the People's Police University, Hospital 30-4 and Ho Chi Minh City Police have also increased nearly 1,000 officers, soldiers, trainees, doctors and medical staff to Khanh Hoa. The force quickly joined rescue teams, mobile medical examination and treatment points, helping people overcome the consequences of floods.
During the most difficult days, the image of police officers carrying the elderly, holding children, taking mothers to give birth safely... left many emotions in the hearts of the people. Many brave examples have been recognized, they are soldiers who defy danger to save people in the fierce water, fully demonstrating the spirit of "When the people need it, when the people have difficulty having police".
The proactiveness, responsibility and dedication of the police force not only contributes to reducing damage but also strengthens people's trust in those who are day and night protecting their lives in peace.
