Recently, Bai Thom Commune Police (Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang) issued 2 Decisions to sanction administrative violations against Mr. Pham Dinh Dinh (born in 1976) from Thanh Hoa Province, currently residing in Bai Thom Commune, Phu Quoc City; sanctioned administrative violations against Mr. Vo Thanh Quan (born in 2008), from An Giang Province, currently residing in Bai Thom Commune, Phu Quoc City.
According to the two decisions, Mr. Dinh and Mr. Quan committed an administrative violation of using fire sources without ensuring a safe distance for fire prevention and fighting according to the provisions of law. Mr. Dinh was fined 400,000 VND, Mr. Quan was fined 200,000 VND.
The city's leaders said that the two cases were punished for burning fields but not ensuring safety, causing a fire on people's land of about 6,000 square meters. However, it is worth mentioning that if the forces do not extinguish the fire in time, the fire will spread to the forest area managed by the National Park. The risk of forest fires from field fires is very high, the consequences will be very serious. According to the law, if a forest fire is caused, the authorities will determine the damaged area for handling. In case of causing a fire of 1,000m2 or more for special-use forests and 3,000m2 for protective forests, they will be prosecuted.
According to Phu Quoc National Park, when fires occur, the authorities work very hard to put out the fire. Due to the location, difficult terrain, wind direction... the fire spread quickly, however, the forces still tried very hard to rescue it. If people do not accompany and work together to preserve it, it is impossible to have enough human and material resources to continuously extinguish fires in many areas. Currently, there is a level 5 warning of extremely dangerous fires, so activities of burning fields, burning garbage, smoking and littering... have a great risk of causing forest fires.

Fire prevention and fighting forces and armed forces are always on duty to mobilize and respond when there is a fire. Mobilizing forces for this work is not simple, not to mention the South and North islands are far apart, when the peak period can have many fires (large and small) a day.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Le Quoc Anh - Secretary of Phu Quoc City Party Committee said: In fact, currently, the regulations on handling administrative violations related to the use of fire that does not ensure safety and endangers the forest have a light penalty level, not enough to deter. The local government is also studying a plan to handle it strongly, both protecting the forest and ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
Every year, the forces have to do the task of fire prevention and fighting very hard, but unconscious actions can accidentally or intentionally cause fires, which will consume human and material resources. With the determination to protect the forest, the city will take strict measures, depending on the level of damage and how to handle it. Along with promoting propaganda and mobilization work so that people can accompany and raise awareness, people can also contribute solutions to contribute to the locality in protecting sustainable forests, shared Phu Quoc City Party Secretary Le Quoc Anh.
"The area of protected and special-use forests of Phu Quoc National Park is 36,262 hectares, accounting for about 65% of the island's area, which is the pride and core natural value of Phu Quoc City. I propagate how to make people aware and they told each other to preserve it together, house after house, neighborhood after neighborhood, need to monitor the community to reduce the number of fires and protect forest resources," Mr. Le Quoc Anh shared more.
