The People's Committee of Ha Tinh province has just directed the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the People's Committee of Cam Xuyen district, Ke Go Hydropower Joint Stock Company, and Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited to urgently inspect the actual situation, damage, and cause of fish death due to being caught in the turbine of Ke Go Hydropower Plant.
Then, quickly report the results and remedial directions to the Provincial People's Committee for further direction and handling according to regulations.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that on May 31, Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited opened a water supply culvert through an irrigation canal to serve farmers in making soil and planting the Summer - Autumn crop.
During the discharge of this water, a large number of fish (mainly sesame) floated through the water, through the garbage barrier, then continued to flow through the turbine of Ke Go hydropower plant (in Cam My commune, Cam Xuyen district), causing the turbine to cut off the head and body.
After discovering dead fish floating in the water, many local people and employees of Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited used a net to pick up the fish to limit the impact on the environment.

Mr. Tran Manh Cuong - Director of Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited shared that before, every time the water was released, fish flowed through the discharge gate but only sparsely. This time, the number of fish passed through is quite large.
According to Mr. Cuong, the strange thing is that Ke Go Hydropower Plant has been in operation for many years, but the situation of fish dying due to the hydropower plant's boat propping up and severing the trunk like recently has not been discovered.

Ke Go Lake project was built in 1976, with a capacity of 345 million m3, providing irrigation water for agricultural production in Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha districts and Ha Tinh city.
Recently, the agricultural sector has coordinated with local authorities to release fish many times to regenerate aquatic resources in Ke Go lake. According to local people, there are currently many mermaids in Ke Go lake, with a common weight of 5 - 7kg.
