On the morning of October 28, Mr. Tran Manh Cuong - Director of Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. (the unit managing and operating the Ke Go Lake irrigation project) said that the project to upgrade and repair Ke Go Lake (in Cam My commune, Cam Xuyen district) has been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with a total investment of 350 billion VND.
According to plan, construction will begin at the end of 2024 and be completed before the flood season of 2025.
The project will upgrade and repair the main dam, auxiliary dam, Doc Mieu spillway, incident spillway and fabricate and install mechanical equipment to help ensure drainage, prevent flooding, and protect the ecological environment.
Ke Go Lake was built in 1976, with a capacity of 345 million m3, providing irrigation water for agricultural production in Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha districts and Ha Tinh city.
Recently, Lao Dong Newspaper has published many articles reflecting the deterioration and landslide of concrete slabs at the main dam of Ke Go Lake, creating potential unsafe frog jaws for this large irrigation project.
