According to information from the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board, the unit has just chaired and coordinated with the Traffic Police Department (Quang Ninh Provincial Police) and Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station to organize patrols and inspections in the coastal area of Ha Long Bay (belonging to Ha Long ward), thereby detecting 2 cases showing signs of illegal aquaculture.
At about 9 am on April 15, in the Hon Bai Tho area (Ha Long Bay), the working group discovered an illegal clam farming facility.
Through verification, the facility owner is Mr. Pham Van Trong (residing in Ha Long ward).
At the time of inspection, the farming area had 2 wooden rafts (each raft with an area of about 8m2), 1 composite hull boat 6.7m long (equipped with 24CV engine) and 1 composite hull motor boat about 4m long (equipped with 15CV engine); there were 6 people working.
Mr. Trong could not present documents related to the licensing of aquaculture in the area.
Working with functional forces, Mr. Trong admitted the violation and committed to moving all assets and vehicles out of Ha Long Bay himself.

Then, at about 10 am on the same day, in the Hon Chua Da area (Ha Long Bay), the inter-sectoral working group continued to discover illegal oyster farming activities.
At the scene, there were 6 oyster rope, each rope about 30m long, hanging on HDPE plastic buoys; 1 wooden boat about 12m long (engine removed) and another wooden boat about 7m long, equipped with a 24CV engine; there were 4 people working.
Functional forces have requested violators to immediately stop illegal aquaculture activities and move all facilities and vehicles out of Ha Long Bay area.
Assign the Ha Long Bay 2 Conservation Center to continue monitoring and urging the relocation, ensuring compliance with regulations on heritage management and protection.
Previously, on April 14, functional forces also discovered and requested to terminate operations and relocate 2 illegal aquaculture facilities.
Thus, in just 2 days (April 14-15), 4 violations were detected and handled.
Strengthening patrols, inspections and handling of violations is aimed at restoring order in aquaculture activities, contributing to protecting the environment and the value of Ha Long Bay as a world natural heritage.
