Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said that the number of vehicles with no ETC account balance has decreased sharply (1/3) compared to the same period in 2024.
Also according to VEC, from July 1, 2025, implementing Resolution No. 204/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly on reducing value added tax, VEC will continue to apply a VAT rate of 8% for service prices using expressways until December 31, 2026.
Currently, VEC has completed the procedures according to regulations and prepared infrastructure ready for the collection of service fees for the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway expected in August 2025.
VEC said that the expressways operated by VEC have safely served nearly 37 million vehicles, an increase of 9.43% over the same period in 2024.
The two expressways: Cau Gie - Ninh Binh and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay have a relatively high traffic volume, both over 12 million trips. Of which, the traffic volume of the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh route is the highest among the routes currently managed and operated by VEC, reaching 12.26 million trips.
The most prominent growth is the Da Nang - Quang Ngai route with 17.76% but the lowest traffic volume, reaching 1.65 million vehicles. The remaining Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway has a traffic volume of 10.85 million, an increase of 16.56% compared to 2024.
VEC also said that, except for the Da Nang - Quang Ngai route, the remaining expressways of VEC are still experiencing traffic congestion, especially during holidays, Tet and weekends due to increased traffic volume and some traffic incidents and collisions.
While the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh and Noi Bai - Lao Cai routes are slightly congested at some times, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay route often experiences this situation, especially on Long Thanh bridge and the access road to National Highway 51.
Recently, after being assigned by the Prime Minister as the managing agency to implement the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Expansion Project, Yen Bai - Lao Cai section, and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway Expansion Project, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh section, VEC is focusing all resources to prepare for the groundbreaking of the two projects this year.
