Launched in 2007, the Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine, producing 503 horsepower and 629 Nm of torque, combined with 4-wheel drive and 6 luxurious seats. This car line has only about 200 units produced worldwide, of which more than half are distributed in the US.
Recently, a Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG appeared at an auction and was sold for up to 50,000 USD (about 1.257 billion VND), a rather high price for a car that has been used for nearly 20 years. However, what is noteworthy is not only the selling price, but also the extremely expensive maintenance cost of this car.
Since 2019, the owner of this car has spent about $42,500 on maintenance services (about 1.068 billion VND). One special repair bill amounted to $17,020 (about 427 million VND), including replacing the head studs, a job that took more than 25 hours of labor.
The owner also decided to upgrade the R63 with Weistec Engineering parts, including a $4,495 exhaust system. All of this maintenance and upgrade work is documented in 78 pages of service records.
Despite its high maintenance costs, this Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG is still one of the best R-Class cars available, especially considering all the improvements and repairs that have been done. In particular, with the performance upgrades, the car can now produce up to 623 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque.
