Lynk & Co recalls more than 74,000 LiDAR defect vehicles, cars in Vietnam are different

More than 74,000 Lynk & Co cars were recalled in China due to LiDAR errors, while the company affirmed that cars of the same model sold in Vietnam are not affected.

More than 74,000 Lynk & Co cars in China have just been recalled due to a LiDAR system error. Notably, two recalled models are also being sold in Vietnam, but the company affirms that domestically distributed cars are not affected.

According to the State Market Regulatory Agency of China (SAMR), Geely Group has registered to recall 74,037 cars of the Lynk & Co brand in the Chinese market. The campaign started on August 24, 2026, applying to some cars manufactured in the period from January 8 to December 10, 2025.

The recalled models include Lynk & Co 900, 10 EM-P, 07 and 08. The cause was identified as being related to fluctuations in the supplier's production process, which could cause the power IC inside the LiDAR cluster to be damaged.

According to the recall file, when the driving assist system is activated, this error may cause the ability to identify or warn about some targets to be incomplete. Under certain conditions, the incident may increase the risk of unsafety when the vehicle is operating.

To overcome this, Lynk & Co will replace the LiDAR cluster for free on vehicles affected. The company also uses a data management system to detect early abnormal signs and proactively contact customers.

Notably, Lynk & Co 900 and Lynk & Co 08 are also being officially distributed in Vietnam. This raises questions about whether cars currently in circulation in the country use the same components and are within the scope of influence or not.

Discussing this issue, a representative of Lynk & Co Vietnam said that the versions being distributed in the Vietnamese market are not related to the recall campaign in China.

For Lynk & Co 900, the recall campaign currently only applies to cars for the Chinese domestic market, manufactured before October 25, 2025. Meanwhile, Lynk & Co 900 cars exported to Vietnam are all manufactured in 2026 and use upgraded LiDAR clusters, not belonging to the group of components identified as defective.

With the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, the difference is even clearer when the version sold in Vietnam is not equipped with LiDAR. This model uses a driving assist system including 5 millimeter wave radars, 10 cameras and 12 supersonic sensors, combined with 25 ADAS driving assist features.

Thus, although Lynk & Co 08 and 900 in Vietnam have the same trade names as the car models in the recall campaign in China, differences in configuration and production time make domestically distributed cars not affected according to information from the company.

The case also shows that when a car model is recalled in one market, users in other countries should not only rely on the car name to determine the risk. The inspection needs to be based on the distribution market, production time, VIN number and specific component configuration. For Lynk & Co users in Vietnam, information from the manufacturer and genuine distributor is an important basis to determine whether the car is eligible for recall or not.
