Pulling the car in the middle of the road due to subjectivity before Tet
Lunar New Year is the time when motorbikes have to strain themselves to drive long distances, carry heavy loads, and move continuously. Meanwhile, many car repair shops close for Tet holiday or only work sparingly. Many people have paid the price for their subjectivity, and then fall into the scene of walking kilometers in the middle of Tet.
Recalling last year's Tet memories, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (from Bac Ninh, working in Hanoi) still has not forgotten the feeling of helplessness.
On the 2nd day of Tet, I took my wife and children back to Hanoi when my motorbike suddenly stalled on a deserted road. Calling everywhere, there were no repairmen. In the end, I had to walk nearly 5 km to meet people for support," Mr. Hung recounted.
According to Mr. Hung, before Tet, the car showed signs of weakening, but because he was busy, he subjectively thought "it's probably okay". "Just because of saving a few hundred thousand VND for maintenance, the whole family is stranded in the middle of the road, both tired and worried" - he said.
Similarly, Ms. Pham Thi Lan in Hung Yen said that on the way to wish Tet, her motorbike suddenly had its brakes squeezed when going downhill. "Fortunately, it was slow, so no accident occurred. But in the middle of Tet, it is very difficult to find a place to repair the motorbike, and the repair price is also higher than usual," Ms. Lan shared.
Car mechanic points out "familiar" Tet breaks
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Van Thai, a motorbike repairman with more than 15 years of experience in Dong Ngac ward (Hanoi), said that most cars that break down on the road during Tet are due to very basic errors.
Cars stall in the middle of the road often because the engine oil is too dirty, the spark plug is worn, the carburetor is dirty, or the injector pin is blocked. These errors, if checked before Tet, are repaired very quickly and cheaply," Mr. Thai said.
According to Mr. Thai, during Tet, motorbikes often carry heavy loads and travel long distances, causing the engine to heat up quickly.
“Old engine oil no longer has good lubrication capacity, if the engine is hot, the car will be sluggish, lose throttle and then turn off the engine. Many people think it's okay if the car can still run, only when going far will the errors be revealed” - he analyzed.
In addition, the braking system and tires are also the cause of many incidents. "Brokening and buckling brakes are very dangerous when traveling on mountain passes or busy roads. Tire wear and pressure are not enough, easily slipping, especially in the early morning with fog" - Mr. Thai warned.
Mr. Thai also said that many people only change oil but ignore brakes, tires and electricity, while these are parts that directly affect safety.
