Nissan plays big, tests cars in extreme weather

Nissan decided to test the capabilities of the Ariya model in extreme weather conditions at the technical center near Detroit.

To ensure the new electric vehicle can operate in different weather conditions, Nissan has tested the product in the temperature range from -40 to 80 degrees Celsius.

With many areas across the country experiencing cold temperatures, Nissan said "Ariya is good for dealing with cold weather". At this time in the US, cold places have temperatures around -20 degrees Celsius, while warm areas have around 15 degrees Celsius.

After the testing process in Detroit, Jeff Tessmer - senior manager of zero-emission vehicles at Nissan's technical center said: "Our testing rooms are capable of adjusting temperatures from -40 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius".

Testing the Ariya with a "msug" temperature compared to what conventional drivers encounter is a way for the Japanese automaker to experiment with the worst possible situations to help the car achieve the expected performance in many different weather conditions.

According to Top gear, this electric SUV was the first car (both pure electric and gasoline engines) to travel from the Arctic to the South in 2023. This journey lasted 10 months with a distance of nearly 30,000km.

This model was introduced by Nissan a few weeks ago with a starting price of 39,770 USD (about 1 billion 009 million VND). The vehicle has 2 battery options of 66 or 91 kWh, corresponding to a range of 347 and 465 km for front-wheel drive models (FWD).
