To ensure the new electric car can operate in different weather conditions, Nissan tested the product in a temperature range of -40 to 80 degrees Celsius.
With many parts of the country experiencing frigid temperatures, Nissan says the “Ariya is well-suited to cold weather.” Right now in the U.S., cold places are around -20 degrees Celsius, while warm areas are around 15 degrees Celsius.
“Our test chambers are capable of operating temperatures from -40 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius,” said Jeff Tessmer, senior manager of zero-emission vehicles at Nissan’s technical center, after testing in Detroit.
Testing the Ariya in temperatures "much more extreme" than what the average driver would encounter is the Japanese automaker's way of testing worst-case scenarios to help the car deliver the expected performance in a variety of weather conditions.
According to Top Gear, this electric SUV was the first vehicle (including pure electric and gasoline engines) to travel from the North Pole to the South Pole in 2023. This journey lasted 10 months and covered nearly 30,000km.
This model was introduced by Nissan a few weeks ago with a starting price of 39,770 USD (about 1 billion 009 million VND). The car has 2 battery options of 66 or 91 kWh, corresponding to the distance traveled of 347 and 465 km for front-wheel drive (FWD) models.
