On July 11, Hanoi City Police said that Team 6 - Economic Police Department - Hanoi City Police had dismantled a fake, poor quality electric motorbike production and trading ring, operating on a large scale, with sophisticated methods and tricks, of inter-provincial nature.
Accordingly, on June 16, the Economic Police Department chaired and coordinated with the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development - Ministry of Industry and Trade to conduct a simultaneous inspection of 3 electric motorbike business locations with signs of violations in Hanoi and Bac Ninh province.
Expanding the investigation, the Economic Police Department continued to search an electric motorbike manufacturing company in the old Bac Giang province, thereby discovering and temporarily detaining over 100 electric motorbikes without legal invoices and documents, showing signs of counterfeiting trademarks and origins with a total value of goods over 1 billion VND along with many machines and equipment for producing fake electric vehicles.
Based on the investigation documents, on June 27, the Investigation Police Agency (Economic Police Department) issued a Decision to prosecute a criminal case for the act of manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods such as electric motorbikes, stipulated in Article 192 of the Penal Code, and prosecuted 3 related defendants to serve the investigation and handling according to the provisions of law.

Hanoi Police determined that the ring leader was N.V.D residing in Bac Ninh province.
According to initial investigation documents, the subjects operated with sophisticated methods, forging many types of related documents to legalize the source of the violating vehicles.
This is a trick to help subjects deceive the authorities, evade taxes and deceive consumers, making customers think that they are buying genuine cars with all the documents.
N.V.D collected data on genuine electric motorbike models, then connected with P.T.T to organize the production of fake electric motorbikes at a company in Bac Giang (old).
After the fake electric vehicle was assembled, N.V.D continued to contact and sell the vehicle to L.V.K's store in Hanoi with fake documents, in order to legalize the vehicle.
From January 2025 to present, the subjects have successfully consumed a large number of fake, poor quality electric vehicles on the market to enjoy a profit of 3 - 4 million VND/vehicle.
The case is currently being further investigated, continuing to clarify other related subjects in the consumption of fake electric vehicles as well as determining the number of fake vehicles sold on the market to proceed with the recall.
